Mystery boys-love series by Saiyuki creator to also have vocal CD, live event
The May issue of Ichijinsha's Monthly Comic Zero-Sum magazine is announcing on Wednesday that an original video anime (OVA) adaptation of Kazuya Minekura's Wild Adapter manga has been green-lit. The mystery boys-love series will also have a vocal CD, a "Kubo-Toki" live concert event, and a new art collection book titled sugar coat excess. More details about Wild Adapter's new media projects will be revealed in future issues of Monthly Comic Zero-Sum.
In the story, a young gang leader named Makoto takes in Minoru Tokitō, a boy with a mysterious past. Minoru has been exposed to the drug "W.A." which has transformed his right arm into a monstrous limb. The two investigate the origins of the drug that is devastating the city's underground.
The manga originally launched in Tokuma Shoten's bimonthly Chara magazine in 2001, but then it switched publishers to Ichijinsha last year. Ichijinsha has since republished the six compiled volumes of Wild Adapter. The characters of Wild Adapter had also appeared in Minekura's Shiritsu Araiso Kōtōgakkō Seitokai Shikkōbu (Araiso Private High School Student Council Executive Committee) manga and its 2002 video anime adaptation.
Tokyopop licensed the Wild Adapter manga in 2006 for release in North America. The company published six volumes before the company closed its North American publishing division.
